Operations Director, Camm & Hooper
The man. The myth. The mystery.
Jason ‘The Captain’ Capper, was first lured into the heady world of hospitality in pre-internet era Peterborough. Having exhausted the cutting edge of P’bro’s nightlife, a fresh face Jason escaped to the bright lights of the big smoke. London at this time was buzzing with the new wave of style bars and cocktail wizards and it was in this environment that JC cut his teeth as bar manager and restaurateur.
Over the next few years, Jason enjoyed a smorgasbord of employment in the capital – Zilli Fish, Bar Room Bar, The Royal Court Theatre, The Hospital Club and the Firmdale Hotels – all helped to form his exceptional approach to business.
In early 2013 Jason was lured into a brand new venture just a stone’s throw from the Shard. Tanner & Co was the latest addition to the Bermondsey Street dining scene and with all new projects that first 12 months is an absolute labour of love. That was four years ago now and Tanner has grown from strength to strength. It has played host to a variety of events from alternative weddings to social media soirees and of course the awesome bottomless brunch. It has also been rumoured that he is behind the behind the Camm & Hooper alter ego, Cornelius Lushington. True that they are never seen in the same place…
Jason now oversees four Camm & Hooper sites across London, with the fifth opening in November. The Captain’s ethos is a simple one – don’t default to the mundane, be better, always have fun and always be a great host.
It is fair to say that Jason is an integral part of the Camm & Hooper machine, so much so that without The Captain at the helm the company would not be the what it is today. We agree.
